The Automation Challenge in Cookware Manufacturing
3-in-1 Decoiler-Straightener-Feeders are increasingly adopted in stamping for their energy efficiency, space-saving design, and operational simplicity. However, traditional models require manual threading—a critical barrier to full automation.
In conventional systems, a hydraulic trolley lifts coiled metal material to the uncoiler spindle. Operators must then manually pull the material head through a support frame into the leveling-feeder unit. This process repeats with every new coil and becomes particularly hazardous with thick stainless steel (≥4mm). Manual pulling risks worker injury, while the inherent curvature of coiled material complicates threading into the horizontal feeder inlet. For small-diameter, thick stainless steel coils—common in electric kettle bases—workers often resort to hammer-flattening, wasting productive time and increasing labor intensity.
The Automation Breakthrough for Precision Cookware
To achieve true automation, we replaced the support frame with a material-head bending and flattening system. Our redesigned 3-in-1 feeder features:
-
Bending Arms: Actively clamp and guide the material head.
-
Hydraulic Leveling Unit: Pre-flattens coiled material.
-
Integrated Automation: Pressure arms, support arms, and stopper arms synchronize to enable touchscreen-controlled threading.
How It Transforms Kettle Base Production
-
Loading: Hydraulic trolley/crane positions the stainless steel coil onto the uncoiler.
-
Securing: Hydraulic expansion secures the coil; support arms lift to stabilize it.
-
Threading:
-
Pneumatic stopper arms prevent lateral coil movement.
-
After cutting straps, support arms feed the material head into bending arms.
-
Bending arms descend, rotating inward to guide the head into the hydraulic leveler.
-
-
Feeding: Pre-flattened material enters the feeder automatically—zero manual intervention.
Result for Cookware Manufacturers
-
Eliminates 100% of manual threading for 0.3–3.2mm stainless steel.
-
Accelerates coil changeovers in high-volume kettle base stamping lines.
-
Removes injury risks from handling sharp, curled stainless steel.
-
Prevents production delays caused by material jams or manual errors.
