Perforated Components

Assign Every Tolerance to the Feeder, Die, Press or Inspection System

This guide separates the real material or manufacturing requirement from standard servo-feeder functions, then identifies the data and validation needed for a reliable line.

Engineering answer: Acoustic perforation is a real product application, but acoustic performance is not created by a special feeder algorithm. The feeder indexes strip between press strokes. Hole size and shape come from tooling; pattern location may depend on feed pitch and pilots; finished-part dimensions add forming, trimming and material effects. A value such as ±0.1 mm is meaningful only when tied to a named feature and test method.
Feed pitchThe feeder indexes the strip by the programmed distance.
Hole geometryThe feeder presents material to the die.
Pattern positionFeed and pilot strategy influence row-to-row location.
Acoustic resultConsistent manufacturing supports a stable product.

What the Evidence Supports

This page separates the real material or manufacturing topic from capabilities that have not been demonstrated for a HENLI servo feeder.

  • Perforated metal uses defined hole shapes, pitch and open-area patterns.
  • Feed accuracy, hole placement, part tolerance and acoustic performance are separate responsibilities that require separate verification.
  • No 1000-SPM, 60 m/min, 70% downtime or acoustic-optimized motion evidence was found.

Pitch, pilots and tooling must be measured as separate sources of variation.

Evidence Required for Special Claims

The application name alone does not prove a special machine capability. Treat each claim as project-specific and record the evidence used for quotation and acceptance.

  • Machine specification: identify the exact model, component ratings, environmental limits and approved material envelope.
  • Performance: state the test material, feed pitch, cycle rate, sample size, measurement method and acceptance tolerance.
  • Certification or compatibility: identify the applicable standard, scope, configuration and supporting report instead of relying on a general label.

What the Servo Feeder Controls—and What It Does Not

Engineering area Feeder or line action Boundary
Feed pitch The feeder indexes the strip by the programmed distance. Actual station-to-station registration includes slip and pilot correction.
Hole geometry The feeder presents material to the die. Punch, die, clearance and wear determine the hole.
Pattern position Feed and pilot strategy influence row-to-row location. Tool construction and press deflection also matter.
Acoustic result Consistent manufacturing supports a stable product. Open area, material, geometry and acoustic design belong to the product specification.

Application Data to Verify Before Quotation

Use measured production data and material documentation. A feeder model should not be selected from the application name alone.

  • List every critical characteristic: hole diameter, pitch, pattern location, open area and part outline.
  • Assign each characteristic to feeder, die, press, material or downstream process.
  • Define the measurement method and sampling plan.
  • Confirm strip thickness, strength, width and lubrication.
  • Check pitch and acceleration at required SPM.
  • Inspect both first-off and sustained-production parts for drift and tool wear.

Recommended Engineering Workflow

1. Build a tolerance map

Do not use one ±0.1 mm value for unrelated features.

2. Design registration

Coordinate feeder index, pilots and die sequence.

3. Prove the press window

Verify the commanded move fits between signals at target speed.

4. Measure capability

Use production data for feed pitch, holes, pattern and part separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the feeder punch acoustic holes?

No. The press and die create the perforations.

Can HENLI guarantee ±0.1 mm?

Only for a clearly defined characteristic under an agreed machine, material, die and test condition.

What should be included in the RFQ?

Material data, hole and pattern drawing, feed progression, SPM, die pilots, part tolerances and inspection method.

Define the Application Before Selecting a Feeder

Send the material standard and condition, width and thickness range, feed pitch, target strokes per minute, press and die details, surface requirements, line layout and the acceptance method. HENLI can review the standard feeder scope and identify any special engineering that still requires validation.
