Traditional metal processing enterprises often face significant challenges when producing circular blanks, such as those required for stainless steel cookware pot lids. Conventional methods using manual labor or standard feeders with stamping presses necessitate purchasing coil stock widths specific to each lid diameter. This approach leads to high raw material procurement costs and generates substantial scrap from unused edges, falling short of modern efficiency demands.

To reduce costs, manufacturers increasingly utilize large, coiled stainless steel. Production lines incorporating decoilers, pendulum NC feeders, and precision presses have been adopted. These “pendulum cutting” lines are optimized for nesting circular blanks tangentially, significantly improving material utilization. However, a critical bottleneck arises when processing wide materials for larger lids: the excessive lateral swing required by the pendulum feeder alone drastically reduces feeding speed, hindering overall efficiency. The market urgently needed a decoiler specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with pendulum NC feeders.

Addressing this need for high-efficiency production, a specialized Pendulum Decoiler was developed for pendulum cutting lines. Beyond the standard functions of bearing coil weight and unwinding material, this innovative decoiler adds a crucial capability: lateral shifting.

Compared to traditional decoilers equipped with a frame, hydraulic expansion mandrel, and internal drive system, the Pendulum Decoiler features a key addition at its base: hydraulic shifting cylinders mounted on fixed bases. The output shaft of these cylinders connects to the frame via linkage rods.

Here’s how it revolutionizes pot lid blanking: After loading the stainless steel coil onto the mandrel and securing it with A-type arms, the decoiler unwinds the material. Simultaneously, the hydraulic shifting cylinders actuate the linkage rods, enabling the entire frame (and the coil) to move laterally. This synchronized lateral movement, working in tandem with the pendulum NC feeder, eliminates the feeder’s need for excessive, speed-reducing swings. The result is highly efficient, fully automated production of circular blanks for stainless steel pot lids, maximizing material savings and throughput specifically for the cookware industry.
