Decoiler machines are widely used in stamping production lines for efficient material feeding and uncoiling. Specifically, in the automotive industry, they play a critical role in handling coil materials for high-volume stamping of car door panels. This application demands exceptional precision to ensure flawless surface quality and dimensional accuracy in the final automotive components. However, traditional decoiler machines employ a variable-diameter support method, where the coil’s inner diameter is expanded by approximately 20mm through manual or hydraulic adjustment—for instance, increasing from 508mm to 525mm. This approach introduces a significant drawback: as uncoiling progresses to the final few layers (the exact number depends on material thickness), the coil’s clamping force may fail to resist the expanding force of the drum. Consequently, the decoiler machine continues to expand the diameter to 525mm, causing interlayer scratches on the remaining material. This defect directly impacts the quality of the entire stamping line output, such as car door panels, which must meet strict automotive standards for appearance and performance.
In high-precision, high-quality stamping scenarios like car door panel production, these scratches can lead to defective parts, forcing operators to halt the line for manual inspections of the remaining coil material. Only after confirming the material’s integrity can stamping resume. This frequent downtime disrupts the automation flow, significantly reducing the efficiency of the stamping production line and increasing operational costs. To address this, a sensor-equipped decoiler machine has been developed for customers with stringent material accuracy requirements. This advanced system incorporates high-precision linear displacement sensors to continuously monitor the displacement of the drum’s pull rod. Through automated control via electromagnetic valves, it maintains a constant drum diameter throughout the entire uncoiling process. This innovation effectively prevents interlayer scratches on the material, even in the final layers, by eliminating diameter fluctuations. As a result, it solves the root cause of surface abrasions in decoiler machines, enhancing material yield and product quality for critical applications like car door panel stamping. Additionally, this machine supports automatic feeding and uncoiling for steel strip coils, ensuring versatility in demanding industrial settings.
