Decoiler Machine Parts Guide: Identification, Replacement and Upgrade Data

Correct parts support starts with machine identity, not a generic component name. Provide the model, serial/nameplate, drawing or BOM reference, original part markings, photos, measured condition and failure symptom before requesting a spare, repair or upgrade.

Short answer: separate replacement spares, wear items, repair work and optional upgrades. A sensor, brake, mandrel segment, shaft, reducer or hydraulic component is not automatically interchangeable between decoiler models.

What Are the Main Decoiler Assemblies?

Heavy duty decoiler parts including frame shaft mandrel control box and sensor arm
Use the complete machine identity and assembly location when requesting parts.
Assembly Function Evidence for parts request
Frame/base Carries the machine and coil load Model/drawing, crack/deformation photos and foundation condition
Main shaft/bearings Carry the rotating coil and transmit torque Shaft drawing, bearing codes, fit/runout and load history
Mandrel segments/linkage Expand/contract within approved coil-ID range Segment dimensions, wedge/linkage, wear and core data
Drive/reducer/transmission Rotate the coil in a powered system Nameplate, ratio, motor data, mounting and symptom
Brake Apply resisting torque or manage overrun Brake type, disc/pad condition, pneumatic/mechanical circuit
Sensor/control cabinet Report loop demand and command machine modes Electrical drawing, device model, voltage/I/O and fault record
Hydraulic/pneumatic Operate expansion, arms, supports or loading devices Circuit, component markings, pressure record and leakage photos

Which Items Are Spares, Wear Parts or Repairs?

Category Examples Decision rule
Direct replacement spare Approved sensor, switch, seal kit, pad or contactor Same identified specification/revision and interface
Wear item Brake friction, seals, bushings or contact surfaces Replace from measured condition and supplied limits
Repair Shaft, bearing seat, frame, reducer or wiring damage Requires condition assessment; do not order from a name alone
Upgrade/retrofit VFD, coil car, arm, sensor change or support Needs a new engineering/interface review

What Information Should Be Sent?

  • Machine identity
Manufacturer, model, serial/nameplate and delivery/project reference.
  • Part identity
Drawing/BOM position, brand/model code and installed revision.
  • Photos
Whole machine, assembly location, nameplate, connectors and damaged area.
  • Measurements
Dimensions, fits, clearances or electrical values taken by qualified personnel.
  • Symptom/history
When it occurs, coil/job, alarms, noise/heat/leakage and previous work.
  • Destination
Country, quantity, urgency and whether installation support is requested.

Which Options Require Engineering Review?

Use options to solve a defined coil-handling or line-control problem. The table below protects common search terms while keeping the decision tied to actual coil and line data.

Option / search term What it may help with Engineering inputs to confirm
VFD / frequency control Adjustable driven-unwinding response and coordination with loop demand Motor/control compatibility, speed range, start-stop duty, loop strategy and downstream demand
Cylinder pressing arm / hold-down arm Controls the outer coil layer and helps reduce uncontrolled loosening during loading or payoff Material thickness and springback, coil OD/width, surface condition, loading sequence and guarding
Coil ID/OD adaptation Matches nonstandard cores or coil envelopes Actual ID range, OD, width, weight, mandrel travel, segment contact and clearance
Hydraulic expansion Powered mandrel expansion for suitable coil weights and changeover requirements Coil data, hydraulic unit, mandrel/load rating, controls and maintenance access
Hydraulic loading trolley / coil car Positions a heavy or wide coil at the mandrel Coil envelope, center height, lift/travel, rail or floor interface, interference and control responsibility
Photoelectric or proximity loop sensing Non-contact loop detection where contact/conductivity sensing is unsuitable Material reflectivity, coating/film, loop geometry, background, sensing distance and fail-safe behavior
Outboard support Additional main-shaft support for an approved heavy-load configuration Load path, shaft/bearing design, opening sequence, footprint, interlocks and coil-loading access
Brake or tension-control change Controlled resisting torque or overrun management in a defined process Coil inertia, speed profile, required tension window, heat duty, controls and acceptance test

Hydraulic expansion, coil car, hold-down arm, outboard support, VFD, brake change, loop-sensor change and guarding are system modifications. They can change load path, control logic, center height, footprint, utilities and risk controls. No universal 2 mm, 2 t or 3 t threshold approves them.

Compatibility boundary: a part that physically fits is not necessarily correctly rated or safely integrated. Written confirmation must identify the machine, part revision and approved scope.

How Should Replacement Be Verified?

  1. Isolate and verify energy.Follow the identified machine/site procedure.
  2. Confirm received identity.Match code, revision, quantity and damage condition.
  3. Install to approved documents.Use specified fits, wiring, settings and fasteners.
  4. Test in stages.Manual/jog, no-load and approved material trial.
  5. Update records.Record the part, date, settings, result and responsible sign-off.

What Should a Recommended Spare-Parts List Contain?

Field Required content
Part identity Description, maker code, drawing/BOM position and revision
Machine applicability Model, serial range and configuration condition
Quantity Installed quantity and recommended project stock
Storage Packaging, environment and shelf-life guidance from component source
Replacement criteria Manual/inspection limitโ€”not an invented calendar interval
Safety boundary: do not access a supported coil, rotating shaft, charged hydraulic/pneumatic circuit or energized cabinet based on a generic article. Use authorized personnel and the supplied isolation procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order a sensor from a photo only?

A photo helps, but the device model, electrical specification, wiring/function and machine drawing should be confirmed.

Are decoiler mandrel segments interchangeable?

Not by default. Geometry, linkage, shaft, coil-ID range, load and revision must match.

Can HENLI add a coil car to an existing uncoiler?

Potentially, after center height, rail path, platform, coil envelope, interference and control responsibilities are reviewed.
