SURGICAL FORCEPS COMPONENT STAMPING

A gear feeder can be considered for a named coil-stamped forceps component when the progressive die uses one stable pitch and the press, gear ratio, release and strip contact path can be validated.

Evidence boundary

A feeder is not “medical grade” by itself. The former precision, yield, downtime, proprietary-drive and universal material claims were removed because no released model and test record supported them.

Prove that the component is a coil-stamping application

Identify the exact forceps component, material specification and certification status, thickness, width, progression, pilot design, forming stages, allowed contact zones and downstream cleaning/finishing. Do not describe the complete surgical instrument as if it leaves the press finished.

When a gear feeder belongs on the shortlist

Use a gear feeder candidate only for a compatible mechanically synchronized, fixed-pitch process. If recipe changes, variable pitch or programmable motion dominate, compare an NC servo feeder. If roller contact or clamp contact threatens a critical surface, run a documented material trial.

Acceptance and quality handoff

  • Repeated progression and pilot handoff measured by the agreed method.
  • Contact surfaces and contamination controls inspected and recorded.
  • Stamped geometry accepted after the die, not inferred from feeder settings.
  • Quality-system, cleaning and traceability responsibilities assigned to the process owner.

What to send for an engineering review

Provide the part drawing, strip material and surface, width, thickness, progression, target production rate, press interface, pilot/release requirement, coil data, line layout and measurable acceptance criteria. A feeder family or model should not be selected from the part name alone.
