Electrical enclosure stamping application
The double-head arrangement can prepare the next coil away from the active payoff side. The correct result depends on panel material, blanking or progressive-die process, feeder accuracy, buffer strategy, changeover method and approved safety procedure.

Map the Complete Enclosure-Panel Process
Coil payoff
Supports and releases the approved sheet coil from one spindle while the idle side can be prepared.
Straightening
Roll configuration and settings must suit sheet thickness, strength, width and flatness need.
Servo feeding
Pitch accuracy belongs to the feeder and control system, not to the decoiler alone.
Press and die
Blank layout, die protection, press cycle and scrap handling determine downstream demand.
Decide Whether Dual-Head Payoff Adds Value
The configuration is most useful when coils change often enough that off-line staging has practical value. Calculate the present loading, securing, strip-end, joining/threading and restart steps separately. Only the loading portion can automatically move to the idle spindle; the remaining steps depend on the chosen line method.
| Question | If the answer is yes | Required confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Are coil changes frequent? | Idle-side staging may reduce waiting. | Baseline time and target acceptance method. |
| Is the panel surface sensitive? | Review every guide, restraint and contact point. | Actual coating/film and an approved trial method. |
| Does the press run a short, rapid cycle? | Buffer response and feeder demand become critical. | Cycle profile, pitch, acceleration and loop window. |
| Are coils heavy or wide? | Loading, support and restraint need extra review. | Maximum coil envelope and engineered load path. |
Define the Changeover and Threading Method
1. Prepare the idle coil
Load, center, expand and restrain it using the approved procedure.
2. Control the active coil end
Stop or slow the line as required and secure strip before handling.
3. Rotate and lock
Use the designed turret and positioning sequence; verify clearance and alignment.
4. Thread, inspect and restart
Confirm guides, straightener, feeder, die protection and buffer before production.
Protect Material Quality Without Inventing Guarantees
A decoiler can influence coil restraint, overrun, tracking and material contact, but it does not guarantee scratch-free sheet or constant tension. For painted, galvanized or film-protected enclosure stock, document the contact surfaces, guide geometry, threading tools, coil condition and inspection criterion.
RFQ and Acceptance Data
| RFQ field | Provide | Used to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Coil | Mass, width, I.D., O.D., grade, thickness and yield strength | Spindle capacity, expansion, support and drive/brake concept |
| Panel process | Blanking/progressive die, pitch, press cycle and part layout | Feeder demand, buffer and line response |
| Surface | Coating, film, cosmetic criterion and allowed contact | Guides, restraint, threading and inspection |
| Changeover | Current steps/time, joining method, staffing and target | What the double-head arrangement can actually improve |
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the double-head decoiler control feeder pitch?
No. Pitch accuracy belongs to the feeder, encoder/control system and press interface. The decoiler supplies material into the approved buffer.
Can the next coil be loaded while production continues?
The idle spindle is intended for off-line preparation when the approved layout and procedure allow it. Personnel must remain clear of active hazards.
Will it prevent scratches on enclosure sheet?
No universal guarantee applies. Material protection depends on coil condition, contact surfaces, guides, threading, restraint and inspection criteria.
What capacity should be selected?
Use the product’s listed per-spindle model row or a documented custom design. Do not add both spindle ratings or infer capacity from press tonnage.
