Compact coil preparation for stamping

UL 2-in-1 Decoiler Straightener

Combine coil decoiling and straightening on one base to reduce floor space beside the press. Buyers also call it a punch decoiler straightener or an all-in-one uncoiling straightener. Select standard UL for 0.35–2.2 mm material or reinforced UL-A for the 0.35–3.2 mm range, with width and thickness matched to the job.

Why choose a 2-in-1 machine?

Prepare Coil Strip in Less Floor Space

UL brings the coil reel and straightening head together. It is a practical arrangement for general hardware and component stamping where the loading area and press-side space need careful planning.

01 · UnwindThe mandrel supports the coil as strip is paid off.
02 · StraightenThe roller head reduces coil set before feeding.
03 · Buffer + FeedAn outlet loop supplies a separate NC servo feeder.
04 · StampThe feeder delivers the required pitch to the press.

Bring the Reel and Straightener Together

The integrated structure reduces the need for separate machine positions. Keep clear access to the mandrel, straightening head and electrical cabinet when arranging the line.

Allow Room for Loading and Access

Check the coil-loading direction, operator side and outlet strip path before ordering. The machine footprint is only one part of the complete press-line layout.

Match material supply to the stamping cycle. The outlet loop buffers the difference between continuous material preparation and intermittent press feeding. Feed length and press coordination are handled by the selected downstream feeder.

Model range and capacity

Select UL or Reinforced UL-A

Start with material grade, width and thickness, then check coil weight and line demand. Five model sizes cover nominal widths of 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 mm.

Standard UL

0.35–2.2 mm Material

A general straightening range for coil-fed press work. Choose the model size using both the coil load and the width permitted at your material thickness.

Reinforced UL-A

0.35–3.2 mm Material

The reinforced version extends the thickness range and uses the higher motor ratings in the table. Maximum width reduces as material thickness increases.

Maximum Strip Width by Material Thickness

Read down from the required thickness to find the permitted width for each model size. The reference below applies to material with yield strength ≤235 N/mm², such as Q235 mild steel.

The 2.5, 2.8 and 3.2 mm columns require reinforced UL-A selection. For example, the 600 size is listed for 600 mm width at 1.2 mm thickness, but 200 mm width at 3.2 mm thickness. Higher-strength material needs a separate capacity review.

The table is a UL / UL-A family selection reference. Use actual material strength, incoming coil condition, target flatness and the final machine configuration to confirm the working capacity.

Straightening setup and access

Adjust the Rollers, Check the Strip

Straightening performance depends on the material and the roller setting. Review the adjustment mechanism and access required for inspection, cleaning and material changes.

Prepare Strip for Downstream Feeding

The roller head reduces incoming coil set before the strip reaches the feeder. Match the setting to the actual material thickness, strength and coil condition.

Flip-Top Head for Roller Cleaning

An openable head provides access to inspect and clean the material contact surfaces. This is useful for visible-surface strip where debris on the rollers can leave marks.

Set up for the actual coil. Inspect the straightened sample against the agreed flatness and surface requirements. Stop and isolate the machine before opening the head or accessing the roller area, following the supplied maintenance procedure.

Coil handling and controls

Choose Options for Your Production Routine

Select the coil restraint, expansion, speed control and sensing arrangement around the material, changeover frequency and press-line layout. Photos show configuration examples.

Pneumatic Press Arm

The arm helps hold the outer coil wraps under control during handling, threading and pay-off. Review this option when material spring-back or frequent coil changes make restraint especially useful.

Adjust Material Delivery Speed

The operator panel provides a local speed setting and machine controls. VFD speed control is available to match delivery to line demand, while a separate feeder controls the feed pitch.

Plan Service and Operator Access

The cabinet and local controls need an accessible operating position. Confirm site power, the control arrangement and required interfaces for the selected machine and feeder.

Expansion option

Hydraulic Coil Expansion

Hydraulic expansion reduces manual effort when gripping and releasing the coil bore. Select this handling option according to coil dimensions, weight and changeover frequency.

Material detection

Review the Loop-Sensing Arrangement

Material sensing regulates supply as the outlet loop changes with downstream demand. Photoelectric sensing can be reviewed when non-contact detection suits the strip. Confirm the method and position for the selected UL build.

FAQ

UL Model Selection Questions

What does the UL 2-in-1 machine combine?
UL combines coil decoiling and roller straightening on one machine base. In a stamping line, the prepared strip normally passes through an outlet buffer to a separate feeder, which controls feed length and coordinates delivery to the press.
What is the difference between UL and UL-A?
Standard UL has a listed material range of 0.35–2.2 mm. Reinforced UL-A extends the family range to 0.35–3.2 mm and has the higher motor ratings shown in the model table. Both must be selected against the actual width, thickness and material strength.
Can a 600 mm model straighten 600 mm wide material at 3.2 mm thickness?
The maximum width and maximum thickness are not simultaneous capacities. In the published family reference, the 600 size is limited to 200 mm width at 3.2 mm thickness, with reinforced UL-A selection and yield strength no greater than 235 N/mm². Confirm the actual material before ordering.
How much space can the integrated machine save?
Combining the decoiler and straightener reduces the installation positions required for those two functions. The final footprint also includes coil loading access, the outlet loop, the feeder and maintenance clearance. Send the workshop layout for a line-specific arrangement.
Can UL process stainless steel, aluminum or copper strip?
These materials can be reviewed for a suitable configuration using their grade, strength, thickness, width and surface requirements. The published width-thickness table is based on yield strength up to 235 N/mm² and must not be assumed to cover every grade. Representative material trials help confirm the required result.
When are hydraulic expansion and a pneumatic press arm useful?
Hydraulic expansion reduces manual effort when gripping and releasing the coil bore. A pneumatic press arm helps restrain the outer wraps during coil handling and pay-off. Select them according to coil weight, dimensions, material spring-back and changeover frequency.
Does VFD speed control replace an NC servo feeder?
VFD control adjusts material delivery speed. The separate NC servo feeder performs feed-length control and press-related feeding functions. Confirm the feeder and buffer arrangement against feed pitch, press speed and average strip demand.
Why choose a flip-top straightener head?
An openable head gives access to the rollers for cleaning and inspection. This is useful when accumulated debris could mark the strip, particularly on visible-surface parts. Confirm the head-access option for the selected build and follow the supplied maintenance procedure.
What should I send for a UL quotation?
Send material grade and yield strength, thickness and width ranges, coil weight, inside and outside diameters, target flatness and surface requirements, feed pitch and press speed, loading direction, available space and site power. Include any preferred control, expansion, press-arm or head-access options.
Where are UL decoiler straighteners made?
HENLI builds UL and UL-A decoiler straighteners, also called punch decoiler straighteners or all-in-one uncoiling straighteners, in its own factory in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. Standard units are usually ready 7–10 days after the configuration is confirmed; non-standard large projects usually take 15 days or more.
