Why the U-loop matters

A Material Reserve Between Leveling and Intermittent Feeding

After the strip is leveled, it forms a U-shaped loop before downstream feeding. The buffer helps accommodate changes in strip demand as the feeder advances material through repeated press cycles.

The workshop units show the U-loop body and leveling section. Review the footprint, working height and access when planning an installation.

Leveling, loop buffering and feed-pitch control serve different purposes. Select the leveler for the material and required result, then match the feeder and loop setup to the press cycle.

Roller setup and loop sensing

Prepare the Strip and Coordinate Its Supply

Required flatness, material condition and the downstream process guide the setup. The loop control coordinates supply during normal production.

Roller arrangement

15 Leveling Rollers

The JMU table lists Ø32 mm rollers with 7 upper and 8 lower. The 2 pinch rolls provide a separate adjustable-pressure feeding function.

Material setup

Four-Point Vertical Adjustment

Set roller engagement and pinch pressure for the actual strip. Check the resulting flatness and surface condition when establishing the working setup.

Loop feedback

45 m/min is strip speed, not press SPM. Feed pitch and the available feeding interval determine how the strip is drawn through each press cycle. Review them together with the loop demand and required output.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a U-Type high-speed leveler used for?
It straightens thin coil strip and provides a U-shaped material buffer before downstream feeding, stamping, cutting or blanking. Typical applications include EI/UI transformer laminations, motor-core components, reactor sheets and other suitable thin-strip parts.
Why does the material pass through a U-shaped loop?
After leveling, the strip forms a U-shaped buffer before the feeder. This reserve of material helps accommodate the difference between strip supply and intermittent press feeding. The loop position, usable storage and machine setup are matched to the material and feeding cycle.
How does the loop control work?
Photoelectric sensing monitors the loop condition, and frequency-controlled speed regulation coordinates material supply during normal production. The exact controller, operating modes and interfaces are confirmed with the supplied JMU configuration.
How do I choose JMU-200, JMU-300 or JMU-400?
The listed maximum strip widths are 200, 300 and 400 mm, with motor powers of 1, 1 and 2 HP respectively. The table lists 0.1–1.0 mm thickness and 45 m/min feeding speed for all three. Confirm the actual width–thickness combination, material properties, required flatness and feeding cycle. Minimum usable strip width is checked for the application.
Is 45 m/min the press speed?
No. It is the listed strip feeding speed for the JMU models. Press speed is measured in strokes per minute. Feed pitch, the available feeding interval and loop demand must also be considered when matching the leveler, feeder and press.
How should I compare U-Type and S-Type levelers?
Compare the actual material, required result, strip path, feeding cycle and available installation space. Both are high-speed thin-strip layouts. Their names alone do not establish a flatness advantage or a particular usable storage length; confirm those requirements for the selected configuration.
Can the U-Type work with a double-head decoiler and gear feeder?
Yes. A suitable line can combine a double-head decoiler, U-Type leveler, high-precision gear feeder and high-speed press. Match coil handling, feed pitch, working height, line speed and control interfaces to the material, die and production requirements.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Provide material grade and condition, strip width and thickness, coil weight and inner/outer diameter, required flatness and surface condition, press model and speed, feed pitch, die or part details, feeder type and the available line layout. Include the working height, voltage and installation photographs where available.
