HT / DHT series ยท Horizontal disc take-up
Horizontal Terminal Rewinder for Precision Stamping
Collect stamped terminal strips onto flat-lying reels supported by horizontal discs.
Choose HT single-disc or DHT double-disc collection, then match the strip path, sensing and paper interleaving to your stamping or insert-molding process.
Confirm speed, reel load, dimensions and controls together for the selected machine and terminal strip.
Machine overview
Support the reel from below
Horizontal disc take-up is an option when the strip and reel arrangement benefit from support beneath the winding pack.
Choose the collection orientation around the part
A horizontal terminal rewinder holds the take-up reel in a flat orientation. The disc supports the reel and winding pack from below, making this layout worth reviewing for wide, heavier or flexible stamped carrier strips within the machine limits.
The complete route still matters: terminal shape, formed features, entry height and reel geometry determine whether the strip can reach the disc without an unsuitable twist or bend.
Connector contacts, lead frames, LED brackets and other continuous terminal strips. Dedicated intermittent configurations can be reviewed for stamped inserts used in injection molding.
Compare the VT / DVT vertical terminal rewinder when a vertical reel arrangement better fits the material path or reel-handling space.
Collection process
Plan the path from the die to the disc
Record the strip exit direction, carrier position, formed features and surfaces that may contact guides or reels.
- 01
Press or process exit
Define the strip delivery direction and height, including any intermittent production sequence.
- 02
Loop & sensing
Allow space for changing strip delivery and match the sensing position to the material path.
- 03
Paper & entry guides
Route the protective paper and terminal strip so the intended surfaces are separated at winding.
- 04
Horizontal collection
Wind onto the supported reel and check the winding pack as its diameter and load increase.
Share feed length per stroke, stroke rate and the normal pause sequence, as well as average line speed. For DHT, describe both strip streams and their entry paths separately.
Model selection
Choose one disc, two discs or a custom tower
Count the independent strip streams first. Then check reel access, entry paths and the space needed to remove a full reel.
HT ยท Single-disc take-up
One powered horizontal disc collects one terminal strip. Start here for an individual collection stream with a suitable reel and material path.
Published model reference: HT-01.
DHT ยท Double-disc take-up
Two stacked collection positions use independent drives and inverter controls to collect two separate strips. Define each strip path and collection requirement.
Published model reference: DHT-02.
Custom multi-axis tower
Three or more collection axes can be arranged for a project. Disc count, vertical spacing, working height and controls are defined in the technical proposal.
The illustrated four-level machine is a custom example.
Assess each strip independently
Independent drives allow the collection requirements of each stream to be assessed separately. Both reels need not run at the same rotational speed: reel build, strip delivery and control settings affect the required movement.
Plan access to both levels
Check how a full reel can be removed without disturbing the other material path. Include paper replenishment, operator reach and handling clearance. If continuous production through reel changes is required, define that requirement with HENLI.
Sensing selection
Match sensing to the material and delivery pattern
Choose contact or non-contact detection after reviewing the strip surface, loop arrangement and production rhythm.
12V contact induction
A 12V contact induction frame senses the metal strip. The published contact-sensing configuration includes buffered speed adjustment to respond to changing material delivery. Confirm the drive response for the selected controller and strip.
Photoelectric sensing
A photoelectric sensor monitors the strip without touching it at the detection point. Consider it for plated contacts and other surface-sensitive parts, while also reviewing contact with guides, reel surfaces and interleaving paper.
Review feeding, pauses and reel changes with the intended material. For insert molding, specify the start-stop process sequence when requesting a dedicated intermittent control configuration.
Paper & detection
Separate wound layers and monitor the paper path
Paper interleaving is part of the collection setup. Paper quality, routing and replenishment need to be matched to the strip.
Kraft paper interleaving
A dedicated passive spindle supplies kraft paper alongside the terminal strip. The paper separates adjacent wound layers and reduces direct layer-to-layer contact.
Match the paper width and route to the terminal profile. Keep the path visible and accessible for replenishment. Final surface quality also depends on reel cleanliness, guides, strip condition and handling after collection.
Paper detection & status indication
The published HT / DHT standard configuration includes detection of paper depletion or breakage, a machine-stop response and a three-color LED status tower.
Confirm the detection coverage, stop response, upstream equipment interface and reset sequence for the supplied control version during commissioning.

Speed and disc configurations can be reviewed for customization. Confirm maximum load, reel envelope and winding speed together; custom tower limits are specified separately. The listed AC 220V single- or three-phase supply describes configuration choices. Confirm voltage, phase and frequency before ordering.
Custom terminal reels
Match the reel, strip and supporting surfaces
Outer diameter, core diameter, center hole and usable winding height describe different parts of the reel. Review them together.
| Reel detail | Available reference options |
|---|---|
| Reel material | ABS + PC |
| Outer diameter (OD) | 420, 450, 500, 550, 560, 580 and 620 mm |
| Inner core diameter | 160, 220, 300 and 400 mm |
| Center hole | 25 and 30 mm options |
| Inner core thickness | 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 30 mm |
| Assembly options | Buckle series, inner round washers and custom stacked combinations |
Reels can include reinforced ribs, positioning holes, grip holes and reserved logo areas. Choose the buckle, washer and stacked core arrangement around the required winding height.
Check dimensional and material fit
Provide the reel mounting details, core geometry, usable winding height and empty and finished reel weights. Compare the core with any bending limits on the part drawing. A reel that fits dimensionally still needs review of how the formed terminals sit between layers.
Inspect a wound and unwound sample
Trial the proposed strip, reel and paper together. Check layer placement, formed-feature clearance and critical surfaces after unwinding. A tidy outer winding pack alone does not confirm that the terminal has been handled acceptably.
Project configurations
Adapt the arrangement to the production process
Intermittent motion, alternative layouts and traverse winding are project-specific configurations, defined separately from standard HT / DHT specifications.
Intermittent take-up for insert molding
Dedicated intermittent controls can be configured around the molding cycle. Provide the strip movement per cycle, pause sequence, exit height and required machine interface for review.
Alternative vertical take-up layouts
Some lines need a different reel orientation or access arrangement. Compare VT / DVT vertical layouts, including project-specific single-side, same-direction or double-side, staggered spindle arrangements, when planning the collection end.
Traverse winding & reel distribution
A custom traverse or oscillating arrangement can be reviewed when the required winding pattern calls for distribution across the reel. Define the reel width, terminal geometry and acceptable layer pattern with a sample or drawing.
Material path & machine interface
Winding direction, paper handling, surface-contact points, tension targets and communication requirements can be reviewed for the project. Disc spacing and tower height must also allow reel changes and maintenance access.

Line integration & trial
Agree the operating sequence and acceptance sample
Use the intended strip, reel and interleaving paper to check the complete take-up arrangement before final acceptance.
Define signals and stop behavior
Agree how take-up demand changes during feeding, pauses and reel changes. Confirm the supplied controller response to paper depletion or breakage, its interface with upstream equipment and the reset sequence. Define how a local take-up stop is communicated to the rest of the line.
Check collection through the reel build
Observe entry alignment, layer placement, formed-feature clearance and winding-pack stability as the reel fills. Include normal pauses, paper replenishment and full-reel removal in the trial. For DHT, assess both collection paths. Record the accepted settings, configuration and sample condition.

Buyer questions
Horizontal terminal rewinder FAQ
Why choose a horizontal rewinder instead of a vertical one?
A horizontal disc supports the flat-lying reel and winding pack from below. Consider it when the terminal profile and strip path benefit from this orientation. Compare entry height, bending requirements and reel access with a vertical arrangement using the actual strip and reel.
What are the maximum speed, load and reel diameter?
The published HT / DHT references are up to 20 m/min, 20 kg per axis and a maximum reel OD of ฮฆ650 mm. Confirm the permitted combination for the material, reel and control configuration; custom tower arrangements have separately specified limits.
Can DHT collect two different strips at the same time?
Yes. DHT has two active collection positions with independent drives and inverter controls for two separate strips. Provide the path, reel dimensions and production rate for each stream so both positions can be assessed.
Does the machine support protective paper interleaving?
Yes. A dedicated passive spindle supplies kraft paper between wound layers. Match the paper width and route to the terminal profile, and review guides, reel surfaces and the finished sample as part of the complete handling path.
Can it be used with insert injection molding lines?
Dedicated intermittent take-up configurations can be reviewed for insert molding. Share the process cycle, strip movement, pauses and required interface so the motion sequence can be specified for the selected control version.
What happens when the interleaving paper runs out or breaks?
The published HT / DHT standard configuration includes paper detection, a machine-stop response and a three-color status tower. Confirm the supplied versionโs detection coverage, upstream interface, stop behavior and reset sequence during commissioning.
